Message from Director McInroy

Attention Region 4 Members and Retirees.

As we go through this challenging part of history, I can truly say I have never been prouder of being part of this membership. I often say that being your Director is not a job, but an opportunity. I am grateful for the opportunity to move this Region forward with so many dedicated brothers and sisters.

During the past few months, I have been working with some of the dynamic people that make up this Region. Our Region has a very diverse membership, having representation of many sectors in the ranks of Region 4. Small IPS Independent Parts and Supplier locals, large Agricultural Implement, Defense manufacturers and Auto plants. We have TOP (Technical Office Professional), Higher Education, Gaming and Healthcare workers. As a result of this diversity and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 virus we also have different challenges in our worksites. We have people on layoff and essential workers on the front lines. We have people volunteering to work, producing PPE for the frontline workers, in addition to numerous people volunteering in their communities, helping others and sewing masks. The diverse segments of our union have been working through whatever challenges have been presented to them, and will continue to tackle the challenges that lie before them as they arise.

I would like to personally thank Secretary/Treasurer Ray Curry for his efforts assisting several of our Ag-Imp locations in multiple states.  We are working with the companies, staying within the CDC, state and federal guidelines to ensure our member’s health and safety issues are being addressed. We are in constant communication with President Gamble and our VP’s who oversee the departments in auto and part suppliers as they work through the effects this pandemic has created.

We have lost several active members and recently had a Retiree from our Retiree Council pass away from complications of COVID-19.

We understand these are trying times. We are thankful for each and every one of you who continue to get up, step up, and stand up for what is good in the midst of all this uncertainty. As always please stay as safe as is possible. Keep your leadership and your servicing rep informed on what is happening in your worksites.  I will continue to work with the leadership and the servicing staff to address your concerns as they are brought to me.

In solidarity,

Ronald McInroy, Director

UAW Region 4
