INTERNATIONAL UNION, UNITED AUTOMOBILE, AEROSPACE AND AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENT WORKERS OF AMERICA (UAW) AMALGAMATED LOCAL 145. Representing members in Montgomery, Elwood, and Schaumburg, IL

Local 145 was chartered on September 18, 1958 with members at what is now known as Caterpillar Incorporated in Montgomery, IL.

On November 14, 1978 the Local 145 Retiree chapter was chartered as original members began to retire.

In 2002 the local amalgamated by membership action. This brought in new members at what is now known as American Auto Works (Unit #2) and EMJ Metals (Unit #4).  Members at Caterpillar Incorporated became Unit #1.

In January 1965 by membership action Local 145 purchased land for a Local Union Hall to be built on. The hall was built in 1967 at 1700 Oakton Road. Montgomery, IL where it still stands today.

Through the years the members have stood in solidarity through several labor disputes including the most publicized strikes at Caterpillar in 1992 for 5 months followed by an 18 month labor dispute that went on from 1994 to 1995.

Today the leadership of Amalgamated local 145 continues to work to provide social economic justice to all members while striving to be a positive influence in the communities they represent.
