Matt Frantzen

Matt Frantzen has been part of Chrysler Unit 1 since June 9, 1994, building more than three decades of service and dedication to his workplace and union. His desire to get more involved led him to run for office in 2005, driven by a commitment to strengthen the union and help make the changes he believed were needed. In 2023, when uncertainty surrounded the future of the Belvidere Assembly Plant, the doors closed, and members were laid off, Matt stepped forward to run for Local President. For him, it was about making sure the locals’ solidarity and voice were strong enough to ensure the members would not be forgotten in the fight to reopen the plant. 

Matt is married to Dawn, and together they have five children and seven grandchildren. He especially enjoys being a grandfather, joking that if he had known how wonderful grandchildren were, he would have skipped straight to them.

What the union means to Matt…..”Simply put, it means everything to my family and me. The Union owes me nothing; I owe everything to our Union.”
